Representation matters. You’ve heard it once or a million times before, but it warrants repeating. So: Representation matters.
And in times as uncertain and, quite frankly, scary, as today, we’re reminded of the power of elected officials who demand people come before profit or politics.
If we know this is powerful and that this is the type of representative democracy we should strive for, at least within the current system, then it begs the question, “how do we get there?” The easy answer is voting, of course; but, it begins well before we arrive at the ballot box. Our civic duty really begins with a survey every 10 years.
